4:25 PM: Thanks to readers who alerted us (we're in the field now, but we have wireless and a mobile scanner) unconfirmed reports of an aircraft down around the Cobb Estate. Fire and Air 5 seems to be rolling. We'll keep monitoring.
4:26 PM: Please remember scanner transmissions are raw information and subject to revision or just plain being wrong -- but Battalion 4 (which services Altadena) is waiting for confirmation that an aircraft is down -- can't see it from their location.
4:34 PM: Have named it the Lake Incident, units responding to Lake & Loma Alta ... LA air control says everything's up in the air that should be, so they're canceling units altho' Air 5 (sheriff chopper) is on scene and looking.
4:35 PM: This is looking more like a washout -- local units are remaining on scene at Lake & Loma Alta, reinforcements are being canceled.
4:43 PM: Fire dispatch reports that no reports of any planes down, anywhere. Checking local general aviation airports.
6:10 PM: Altadena Mountain Rescue Team says they are coming down the mountain, apparently nothing found.
