Altadena company Nila, Inc., a firm that makes low-energy LED lighting products for film and television, is involved in a renovation of the largest hearing room of the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. The renovation includes replacing traditional incandescent lighting with Nila's LED system for video-friendly lighting. According to the Marketwire piece, the incandescent lighting consumed 55,000 watts of electrical energy. After replacement with the LEDs, the room will only consume 7,300 watts, a reduction of 86%. The new lighting system will also reduce the cooling needs of the room.
Roberta H. Martinez, who blogs at A Pasadena Latina, has a rave review of Altadena Hardware (which has its grand opening coming up this weekend -- don't miss it!)
PUSD schools are off this Fri., Feb. 11 (boo!) but open enrollment will continue through close of business that day (yay!). The Pasadena Education Network has an information page here, as open enrollment applications must be completed online.
