- Rubio acquisition: Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy exec director John R. Howell will be in Sacramento today. The State Wildlife Conservation Board is expected to approve a $540K grant to allow the conservancy to buy the final 18 acres of Rubio Canyon land. PSN has a few more details.
- County rescuers enroute to New Zealand: California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2), Los Angeles County Fire's heavy rescue task force, is preparing to go to New Zealand to help rescue and recover victims of the Christchurch earthquake. The task force is a specially-trained and equipped urban search and rescue team consisting of firefighers and paramedics, rescue specialists, emergency room physicians, structural engineers, heavy equipment specialists, hazmat technicians, communications specialists,a nd logistics specialists.
