A group of neighbors have filed an appeal with the LA County Board of Supervisors to put a stop to a proposed cell phone tower at 147 E. Loma Alta Dr.
The county Department of Regional Planning approved the cell tower Feb. 9, but some residents directly surrounding the site are claiming that the full story about what was to go on the site was never made public, according to Pilar Goeders, one of the residents behind the appeal, which was filed Wednesday. According to Goeders, they were told the appeal would be heard by the supervisors in April or May.
The basis of the appeal, Goeders said, was "multipronged," but included claims that the approved plan was not just for the planned 100 foot ATT monopine, but another tower on the site, 85 feet hight, that would subleased by T-Mobile. The appeal also calls for a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) report, and an arborist report -- Goeders said that a tree had recently fallen over on the property, and the neighbors are concerned that other trees could knock down the cell towers and endanger residents.
"It's very multi-pronged, but certainly a general issue is that there were issues that weren't addressed -- people immediately close to the tower weren't brought in ... there are a lot of unanswered questions. Really, that's the issue."
