If you're interested in the Pasadena Unified School District elections, Hahamongna Watershed issues, or are a Pasadena-resident reader, it's going to be a busy few days:
- Tomorrow (Feb. 15), 7 PM, there will be a special joint meeting of the Pasadena City Council and the Pasadena Unified School District at the Pasadena City Hall council chamber, 100 N. Garfield, room S249. Among the topics they will discuss is approval of a strategy, timeline, and process for "sub-district" representation on PUSD, i.e. school board members will represent a specific geographic area, rather than be elected at-large. The plan calls for a special election on June 5, 2012, at the sole expense of PUSD (which is apparently just drowning in money to hold special elections -ed).
Meanwhile, there will be a forum for PUSD candidates only at Blair High School, 1201 S. Marengo Ave., Pasadena, sponsored by the employee unions of PUSD. Call Michelle Bailey, 626-644-0701, with questions - On Wed., Feb. 16, there will be a public hearing at Pasadena City Hall to save two mature oak trees in a private vacant lot that are slotted to be removed. This is in West Pasadena Hillside Dist. 6.
- On Thurs., Feb. 17, the East Arroyo Residents Association will sponsor a candidate forum at Cleveland Elementary School , 524 Palisade St., Pasadena. Candidates for District 1 (incumbent Jaque Robinson and challenger James Smith) will debate. (Hahamongna Watershed is located in District 1 and District 6).
- There will be a PUSD Candidate Forum, Sat., Feb. 19 starting at 10 AM, Villa Parke Community Ctr., 363 East Villa Street, Pasadena.
- On Feb. 23, candidates for both the Pasadena City Council and Pasadena Unified School District will debate on Feb. 23 at Cleveland Elementary School, 524 Palisade Street, Pasadena. Questions for all candidates are requested sent in advance to moderators via Frank.Girardot@sgvn.
- Tues. March 1, 6:30-9 PM, PUSD and city council candidates will meet in a forum at All Saints Church, 132 N Euclid Ave., Pasadena. Hosted/Organized by All Saints / City Conversations
