Morning jolt

• LA Times' "Lost LA" section today has a feature by Sam Watters on the McNally House, particularly the Egyptian Revival parlor in its heyday.
• And our correspondent Erika McCarden points us to this article by Emily Green, also in the LA Times, about Leigh Adams' "dry garden," based on utilizing rainfall.  (Why are we not surprised to learn that the county was giving her grief about it?)
• And just FYI, the Reynolds Journalism Institute talks to "hyperlocal" (we are beginning to hate that term!) website operators, and quotes us a few times about grassroots community journalism vs. AOL-oturf in an interview from late last year.
