Tonight on Our Town (The Arroyo Channel) at 9 PM, guest host Michele Zack will look at an initial effort to rejuvenate Lake Ave. as a commercial center.
Her guests will be members of Altadena Heritage's North Lake Working Group, which is putting together a survey of the commercial stretch of Lake Avenue.
According to Thomas Stahl, a member of the working group, the volunteer effort from Altadena Heritage-- which includes photographing the buildings and identifying the different zoning areas -- is the first step in any discussion of how to revive the area.
"Once your get your facts together, you can identify where action is most needed," Stahl said.
In an interview last month, Stahl said that the working group was looking to have a public roundtable in May or June to discuss the area and also draw on "some high level expertise who have experience in similar projects."
Right now, he said, the working group is just concentrating on collecting facts, and realizes that any move to revitalize the street would need to be an effort that includes residents, business owners, the town council, and the county. "There's a lot of fact-finding and scratching the surface at this point," he said.
Committee members that are scheduled to appear include Stahl, Mark Goldschmidt, and Stephen Rudicel.
