Daniel Webster School will bring a long-running music education program to its students for the third year in a row, as they welcome the Young Americans to their campus on March 31-April 2.
The Young Americans is a company of 46 singers and dancers, ages 18-24, who will present a three-day workshop to any Pasadena students who wish to attend. The workshop will culminate in a two-hour concert, where our students will perform alongside the Young Americans in front of parents, teachers and community members.
The performance will be held at the John Marshall Fundamental School Auditorium, located at 990 N. Allen Avenue, Pasadena, on April 2 at 6:30pm. Tickets for this performance cost $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students.
The Young Americans Workshop is designed to teach kids the basics of musical theater, while giving each student the opportunity to shine. The Young Americans workshops are typically open to any student in grades 4-12, whether or not the student is enrolled in the host school. The Pasadena workshop is open to Pasadena students of all abilities, grades Pre-K-12. No prior experience is needed. Through their outreach tours, the Young Americans have worked with more than 300,000 young people in public and private schools, including youth detention centers and prisons, and performed for millions of audiences worldwide.
The Young Americans were founded in 1962, by successful Hollywood music composer and arranger, and former schoolteacher, Milton C. Anderson. They have performed for Presidents and heads of state, won an Academy Award, been on national TV and appeared before a worldwide audience of millions. Among the group’s 3,500 alumni are professionals on Broadway, in motion pictures, television, radio and the recording industry.
The workshop costs $57.00 per student, which includes a commemorative T-Shirt. For more information, or to register online, please visit our website at www.webster.pasadenausd.org. For more information about the Young Americans, please visit their website at www.youngamericans.org.
