Altadena sheriff Lt. Joseph Dempsey said that a joint operation with Altadena gang officers and Pasadena homicide officers was conducted this morning starting at 5 AM, yielding seven arrests and the seizure of six guns.
Dempsey said that one of the arrests was at the Altadena home of Brandon Jackson, a 17-year-old Muir High School student who was shot to death earlier this year. Dempsey said that the arrest sweep was related to the wave of shootings in Altadena and Pasadena before and after Jackson's muder.
Dempsey said that were nine warrents issued, and officers are still looking for two of the persons named. While it was a joint operation, most of the warrants were served in Altadena, Dempsey said.
One of our readers wrote about what she saw:
Around 5 AM I was awakened to nearby sound of a loudspeaker, "Come out with your hands up..." and one loud popping sound ... There was a big, square-ish black truck that said Police SWAT and there were at least 10 officers (actually there looked to be several more inside the house and around the perimeter of the house). A red van/truck unit came, two officers took out a gurney and went inside or behind the house, and emerged about 20 minutes later; I saw something on the gurney, but it looked almost like a box or package, strapped down on the gurney; they put the gurney inside the back of the red van. The K-9 unit arrived and handler and German shepherd doggie went inside or behind house.
UPDATE 4/8: Frank Giardot at PSN has the list of arrestees and updated information.
Correction: Received a call from Lt. Dempsey, who said that a warrant was served on the Brandon Jackson house, but no arrest made (he'd been up all night).
