Morning jolt: now battery powered

• Pasadena City College has opened the Business and Entrepreneurial Services and Training Academy (BEST), to provide services to small business owners and other entrepreneurs.  Services include online education and access to consulting.  PSN has more details.
• There will be a grand opening celebration of Reese's Retreat at Brookside Park in Pasadena on April 30.  Reese's Retreat is Pasadena's first universally accessible playground, designed for children of all abilities.  Official dedication starts at 9:30 AM, and "pirates" from the Sierra Madre Playhouse will be involved.  The city of Pasadena has more information on its website.
• You've got a stack of old, dead batteries somewhere, don't you?  Now you can safely and greenly get rid of them though the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments' battery recycling program.  Three Altadena businesses are particpating: Altadena Hardware, 849 E. Mariposa St.; Masters Building Supply, 370 E. Woodbury Rd.; and Webster's Liquor, 2450 N. Lake Ave.
• The Forest Service plans to plant 3 million trees to help recover from the Station Fire -- and its a plan that's not without controversy.  LA Times has the details.
• Four autistic men who wandered away from their group in Eaton Canyon were found safe yesterday after a five hour search.  PSN tells it.
