Master Gardener, Jeri Huston, will be leading beginner (9am-noon) and intermediate (2:00-5:00 pm) gardening classes at the Altadena Community Garden April 9, 16, 23 and 30. Cost is $50 for the series or $15/class (classes are free for garden members). Topics will include: California natives, advanced composting, permaculture , seed saving and storage and food storage, among others. The beginning class will include plant selection, seasonal planting, integrated pest management, composting, harvesting, companion planting, irrigation and water conservation.
Both classes will be doing hands-on activities in the Victory Garden's assigned garden plots and according to Huston, "we spend a lot of time walking through the garden as there are always a lot of teachable moments there."
