"Save King Dave" was a marathon 12 hour long fundraiser held Saturday to help pay for Dave Melrose's cancer treatments, and by all accounts, it was a lot of fun in a good cause. Our Gary Altadena was there, and this is what he saw:
Here, Melrose (on the right) meets with headliner Jack Black. The Hollywood comedy star performed a tribute to Black Sabbath as part of the night's entertainment.
The other headline performers were "dos," consisting of seminal punk bassists Kira Roessler (Black Flag) and Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, and the Stooges)
Snotty Scotty and the Hankies, the hardest-working band in the Pasadena area, pose in the photo booth at the benefit.
UPDATE 8:30 PM: Via the "Save King Dave" Facebook page, the event cleared about $20,000.
