Community correspondent Chip Ossman spotted two smaller coyotes Friday morning at 7 AM going north on the 1900 block of Midlothian:
One of the two was carrying a large cat. The cat was definitely deceased (and, the coyotes were too far for me to discern the cat’s coloration, it wasn’t a solid black cat, more of a “tabby” perhaps with stripes). Presumably the cat came from somewhere south of 1945 Midlothian. Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news and condolences to the cat’s family.
And a little before 2 PM Friday, we personally saw a good-sized coyote on Holliston Ave., just below Mendocino Drive, heading out of the country club parking lot and disappearing into a neighboring yard. It's unusual to see them that deep into civilization in the middle of the day, walking down the middle of the street like that -- so be careful with your own critters!
