Girl Scout Troops 11711 and 14551 are having a Celebration of National Pride on Sat at Camp Mariposa (615 E. Mariposa St., across from the Altadena Library) from 11 AM-3 PM. Troop 11711 leader Robyn Migel writes, "It's a very small family friendly event, staffed by 20 Junior Girl Scouts and some volunteers. We will have games, BBQ, live music and a Flag Retirement ceremony conducted by the American Legion (with help from some scouts). There will also be upper level scouts (from Girls LEAD) making and collecting origami cranes to send to Girl Scouts in Japan. The "Silver Trefoils" will be there teaching about the history of Girl Scouts, and its founder, Juliette Lowe. We are really hoping for a good turnout, as this is also a fundraiser for these troops."
We say, "Forget Red vs. Blue, Let's Go Red, White, & Blue!"
