Get empowered by an inspiring presentation which will show how anyone can make a difference, add more meaning to their lives, and, by the way, glean some great photography tips too. This event will take place at Altadena Library on Mon. June 6 at 7 PM. and feature Traude Gomez-Rhine, author, and Brian Biery, photographer, for the book Power of One. Other speakers include several of the Pasadena and Altadena residents who are profiled in this work as the result of their enormous contributions to the community.
Marty Coleman, of the Sustainable World Ministry; Tom Coston, of the Light Bringer Project; Sue Kujawa, Mothers Club Director; Ellen Snortland, “Fearless Feminist” and journalist; and Dr. Don Thomas of the Young and Healthy Program will discuss what inspired them and offer suggestions for others who would like to help make the world a better place too.
The program will also have a segment focusing on the photography in Power of One and on Biery’s process of creating its unique and captivating images, many of which will be on display that evening. These outstanding photographs will be on view June 2 through June 20 in the Library Community Room.
Gomez-Rhine has explored a variety of human interest topics, from fashion and art to education and botany, by using a range of writing styles. Most recently she has completed writing projects for the Pasadena Educational Foundation, the Music Center of Los Angeles, and The Huntington Library.
Biery’s work has been featured in numerous publications. He has lived in Guatemala as a Peace Corps Volunteer and works on organizing projects in the communities of Pasadena and Altadena.
