La Cañada Presbyterian Church and non-profit organization Clothes the Deal are holding a unique event this Sunday, "Suit Yourself Day," where where anyone can donate a suit and in turn enjoy an afternoon of fun.
Clothes the Deal partners with over 85 social service agencies to distribute over 15,000 articles of business clothing to over 6,000 job seekers annually. Business clothing from the event will be distributed at a later date to individuals who have completed work-training programs throughout Los Angeles County and to LCPC Ministry Partners Door of Hope, Elizabeth House, Walter Hoving Home and Union Rescue Mission. Donations can include men's and women's suits, dresses, skirts, shirts, blouses, belts, ties, shoes and slacks. Donors will receive donation receipts.
As part of the program, CTD will “Follow the Suit,” using a special tracking method so that they can later share the stories of how donated suits benefited the recipients.
Suit Yourself Day runs from noon to 3 PM at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada, and activities include:
- 93.1 JACK FM Mobile DJ will be playing pop favorites
- Clean Street Food Truck, known for “Upscale Food at Pedestrian Prices,” will be at the event serving delicious lunches for as low as $6.00.
- Free giveaways, including Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt for the first 100 suit donors, free ESPN Zone game cards for the first 50 suit donors, free Starbucks iced coffees and free desserts courtesy of DISH Restaurant.
- The day will be capped off with a program, emceed by comedian and juggler Ron Pearson.
LCPC will be raffling off a free iPad2, a portrait sitting at PrintEfex, free workouts from TAIX Workout Studio and dinner for two from DISH Restaurant. ABC7 Eyewitness News Weatherman Dallas Raines will be on hand donating a suit for the good cause.
