It's time to prepare for a summer of fun at Altadena's county parks:
Summer camps: Enrollment is now open for summer day camp programs at Farnsworth, Charles White, and Loma Alta Parks. which all start June 27.
Summer day camps provide children with the opportunity to develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and discover new intersts. Activities include sports, field trips, arts & crafts and more.
SIgn up at the park. Camp schedules and prices are as follows:
Charles White Park: June 27- Sept. 2, M-F, 8 AM-5 PM, $20 week, ages 3-12 years.
Farnsworth Park: June 27-Sept. 2, M-F, 8 AM-5 PM, $60/week, ages 6-14.
Loma Alta Park: June 27-Sept. 9, M-F, 7:30 AM-6 PM, $75/week, ages 3-12.
Swimming: the Loma Alta Park pool will open June 25, with free recreational swimming from 12:30-5 PM seven days a week. Family nights are the first, second and third Friday of the month and teen nights are the fourth Friday, all from 5:30-8 PM. There are also organized dive teams, junior lifeguards, water polo, competitive swim teams, and adult lap swim time. Contact the pool for times and prices (626) 362-4686.
Swimming lesson are also available for children, teens, and adults from 10 AM-noon, $20 for a two week session.
Youth Sports: Farnsworth and Loma Alta Park offer youth sports opportunities during the summer, including dance, tennis, wrestling, sports clinics (Farnsworth only) and basketball (Loma Alta Park only).
The county and the California State Dept. of Education also offer a free summer lunch and snack program through the county parks. The program provides healthy lunches and snacks for children and teens. Please contact the parks for details.
