Fri. May 13
- The Altadena Library's annual used book sale starts with a presale for Friends of the Library members, 3-7 PM at the library community room, 600 E. Mariposa St.
- It's Fancy Food Truck Friday behind the Webster's complex, Lake and Marcheta. This Fridayʼs featured trucks are: “The Border Grill”, “The Hungry Nomad”, “Greenz on Wheelz”, “Auntieʼs Fry Bread”, “OG Tempura” and “Tango Mango”. There will also be tarot readers and fortune tellers at Webster's Fine Stationers., and all the Websters stores will be open. 5-9 PM.
Sat., May 14
- JPL's annual Open House, 9 AM-5:30 PM. This popular event celebrates JPL's accomplishments with exhibits and demonstrations about the Laboratory's ongoing research and space exploration. Many of the Lab's scientists and engineers are on hand to answer questions about how spacecraft are sent to other planets, how scientists utilize space technologies to explore Earth and how researchers are searching for planets beyond the solar system. Fun for the whole family, but bring water and sunscreen!
- Library's used book sale opens to the general public, 10 AM-4 PM.
- "Save King Dave" fundraiser: an all-day fundraiser/concert/auction for Dave Melrose, to pay for his cancer treatements. Featured performers are DOS and Jack Black. Suggested donation $20, noon to 11 PM, 711 W. Woodbury Road.
- Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy hosts a hike to the east ridge of Rubio Canyon with rail historian and trail expert Paul Ayers. Starts 9 AM.
- The Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble does its thing this Sat. at Cabrera's, 655 N. Lake Ave. in Pasadena at 8 PM.
- The St. Elizabeth Parish School performs "Annie Get Your Gun" Sat. May 14 at 7 PM and Sun. May 15 at 2 PM. There will also be performances Fri. May 20 at 7 PM, and Sat. May 21 at 7 PM. $8 adults/$5 students at the parish hall, 1840 N. Lake Ave.
Sun. May 15
- Pasadena Marathon will jam up the streets to the south, starting at 5 AM and going to around noon. Go here to plot your escape.
- JPL open house continues, 9 AM-5:30 PM
- "Suit Yourself Day" at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd.
- Library book sale concludes, 1-4 PM.
