- The Altadena Chamber of Commerce's monthly mixer will reveal the results of its recent online survey. This month's mixer will be at the Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr., 5:30-7:30 PM.
- Please join officials from the LA County Flood Control District for a presentation on Devil's Gate Reservoir haul route alternatives, starting at 6 PM at La Canada High School cafeteria, 4463 Oak Grove Dr.. La Canada Flintridge.

- Charles White Park will be the scene for a celebration of Latin American culture, 4 PM-dark. Art, vendors, music, admission is free.
- Open mic night at the Coffee Gallery front stage, free, Coffee Gallery, 2029 N. Lake. Backstage: the Tex-Mex sounds of
Conjunto Los Pochos, $18. Both events start at 8 PM. Reservations: (626) 798-6236.

This month's free movie at Farnsworth Park is "Houdini," starring Tony Curtis and in the Davies Building. Free admission. Free popcorn and punch. Greg Riley, the Urban Illusionist, will perform. Doors open at 6 PM, movie starts at 7. Come early for good seats and to see Greg perform.
Sat., May 28
- The first of the Coffee Gallery events today will be a Luminaria Donation Round-Up a from 9 AM-12 PM for the Altadena Relay for Life.
- The next event is the 75th birthday of master storyteller Leslie Perry. Gallery owner Julie Sandoval says: "I'm making a mess of greens and baking homemade cornbread for the festivities, you are invited to bring a dish to share, or chips and dip, fresh veggies and fruit if you wish... Will he tell us a story? I'm sure he will...as he is never in short supply of a good story." 3-6 PM.
- Then, the Coffee Gallery Backstage welcomes guitarist Lawrence Juber, 7 & 9 PM, $25. And, the Frontstage Saturday concert series happens in the front window with a great lineup of acts this Saturday: Raspin, Paul Zollo, Earl Gray with Lisa Johnson, plus local song bard Bill Burnett. The show starts at 8PM, and the suggested donation is $5.
- If you just can't get to the Coffee Gallery, hike the Rubio rail trail with historian Michele Zack as part of the Arroyo & Foothills Conservancy docent-led hikes. Meet at the trailhead off Rubio Vista Dr. Join Zack on a trail following the former route of the Mount Lowe Railway, which brought nearly 5 million people up the canyon between 1893 and 1938. The trail is one mile each way. It is demanding at points, with several high narrow steps near a sheer drop and a scramble over rocks in the creek near the end. Starts 9 AM, meet at the trailhead off Rubio Vista Drive..
- For our international sports fans: the Altadena Ale & Wine House, 2329 N. Fair Oaks Ave., will show the UEFA Champions League Soccer Final Match Live: Barcelona vs. Manchester United. Doors open at 10 AM, match starts at 11 AM.
- "Remembering Our Veterans and Their Families" countywide celebration goes from 11 AM-3 PM at Arcadia County Park, 405 S. Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia
- The Folly Bowl, 1601 E. Loma Alta Drive, presents an evening of Indian music, 7 PM, $15 suggested donation.
Sun., May 29
- After a two month hiatus, it's the return of the Altadena Urban Farmer's Market at the Zane Grey Estate, 396 E Mariposa Street. Backed with a fresh new county permit, the market is a place for the small farms, handmade crafts, homemade cooking, and other delights with the chance to pet a goat. Save time: download a free membership form at www.arroyotimebank.org and fill it out in advance. Walk or ride your bike to the market and get a free raffle ticket for a 100% organic cotton grocery bag with the Altadena Urban Farmers Market logo! There will also be workshops on urban homesteading ways (cheesemaking, gardening, breadbaking) every half hour. 1-4 PM.
- Coffee Gallery: frontstage hosts open mic, starting at 8 PM, free. Singer/songwriters Penny Nichols and Severin Brown will hold a matinee at the Backstage at 3 PM, $15.
Mon, May 30
- Memorial Day.
- The Civil War Round Table of San Gabriel Valley will commemorate the holiday with a Civil War Memorial Day Service at Mountain View Cemetery, 2400 N. Fair Oaks Ave., at 2 PM. Nick Smith, a Pasadena librarian and local expert on the many Civil War veterans who are buried there, will tell their stories and provide a context for this memorial celebration.
- Altadena Community Church will hold a free community gathering and barbecue from 11 AM-4 PM Mon., May 30, at the church parking lot, 943 E. Altadena Dr. All are welcome to enjoy food from local restaurants, kids' activities, music, games, and much more for a free family day.
- The Altadena Ale & Wine House will have an all-you-can-eat Memorial Day barbecue, starting at 5 PM. $12
