The Altadena area office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a sobriety/driver license checkpoint on Fri., June 24, within the unincorporated area of east Pasadena.
“The start of the summer season comes with increased traffic as motorists embark on vacations. We would like to remind everyone to designate a sober driver. Driving under the influence is inexcusable and has cost the lives of too many people,” said Captain Bill Dance, Altadena Area Commander. The mission of th CHP is to ensure the highest level of safety, service and security to the people of California. Sobriety/Driver license checkpoints are proven, effective tools for achieving this mission and are designed to augment existing patrols.
Captain Dance added, “Traditionally, we see an increase in the number of arrests and collisions involving drivers under the influence during the summer. These last few months have been no exception. Whether you are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, we will be looking for you. Be responsible: designate a sober driver.” The objective is to send a clear message to those individuals that consider mixing alcohol or drugs and/or drive when unlicensed.
