Community correspondents Sherry and Joseph Cavallo caught this guy in their backyard on the 2400 block of Ganesha last weekend -- he seemed to us to have really big ears for a coyote, so we sent it to our Canid Correspondent, Dr. Barkman, with the question, "Fox or coyote?"
Her response: "That’s a coyote for sure. He’s a youngster – just need to grow into his ears."
This is also darn close to where the coyote killed the Maltese Wednesday morning -- while this guy may or may not be the culprit, it's a reminder that the coyotes are out and they're bold, so be careful with your pets.
UPDATE: Reader Tom Owens (fixed!) says he saw a pack of four coyotes on Mendocino at about 10 PM both Saturday and Sunday last week -- sounds like folks in the neighborhood need to be extra-vigilant.
