After many requests, the Altadena Library will be offering eBooks to download from the comfort of your home and on-the-go beginning sometime this September. To help the staff make decisions on what to buy, please take a moment to fill out a very brief survey available on the library’s website at http://www.altadenalibrary.org/ by July 15, 2011.
According to Barbara Pearson, Director of the Altadena Library District, “eBooks have made a huge impact on the book industry and more and more library patrons have been asking for them, so we are pleased to be soon offering this new service. Due to budget considerations we will only be able to order about 250 books the first year. This survey will help us spend in areas the public would most like. The good news is these books will become part of the library’s permanent collection, so it will keep growing.”
Once eBooks become available at the library, users will be able to browse the library's website for eBook titles, check out with a valid Altadena library card, and download to their computer or many common mobile devices including iPad, iPod, iPhone, Sony Reader, Barnes and Noble's Nook, and those working on the Android or BlackBerry platform.
