What the school board is looking at is relocating several district programs into Burbank as follows:
- Relocating a Pasadena Mental Health program now at McKinley school due to modernization work at McKinley
- Relocating the LA Universal Preschool from Loma Alta Elementary, also slated to close at the end of the month
- Moving the Burbank preschool to another location onsite.
- Relocated the Pre-K/Special Ed programs from Hodges Children's Center. This will free up space for other programs at Hodges, which include clinics for speech and physical therapy.
- Relocating staff development programs from Edison to Burbank
- Create an "Academy for Success Elementary Program" at Burbank.
Reconfinguring Burbank for the new uses and moving equipment will have to take place between the end of school this month and the beginning of the new school year at the end of August. Estimated moving and related costs are $150,000 to $170,000, of which $100,000 is toward paving the soccer field for staff parking.
