Altadena Relay for Life
Our final committee and team captain meeting is tonight at Farnsworth Park, Wild Horse Picnic Area, at 6 PM, the site of our upcoming event on this Sat. June 11.
Thanks to one of our awesome Relay for Life Teams, Lockheed Martin's "Rollin for A Cure" we will again have a computer silent auction throughout the event. We want to thank Lockheed Martin, a national Relay for Life Team participant, and their team Captain Alan Kunihiro for their generous donation of these computers to support the Fight Against Cancer. These computer are "experienced" but well maintained by the awesome staff at Lockheed Martin. The machines come from JPL, so if you ever wanted be a "Rocket Scientist" but couldn't quite make it happen, well here's your chance to have a "Rocket Scientist Computer"!
Here are the machines and the specs ( "scheduled to appear", as is, no warranty). The silent auction will happen through out the day, only at Relay for Life of Altadena. Any questions please contact relayforlife.altadena.ca@gmail.com.
We know it's a busy day in Altadena, so if you are out at the Millionaires Row Art Fest, or have just rumbled through the E-waste collection drop off at Eliot, or just finished being surveyed by by Sheriff Deputies, please come by Farnsworth to Relay for Life. We'll be there from Saturday at 9 AM until Sunday at 9 AM. The highlight of the Relay is the Luminare Ceremony at 9 PM, with hundreds of candle lit luminaria and bagpipe music.
Our volunteer committee has lined up a jam packed program of local musical talent, fun and games, great catered food for those that raise $100, Movies til Dawn, even karaoke! midnight snack, pancake breakfast, etc. The Highlight of the Relay is the Luminare Ceremony at 9 pm Saturday, typically the largest crowd, and that's a great time to ask friends and family to come see the almost 1,000 candlelit luminaria and hear some bagpipe music.
A courtesy suggestion - if you are not signed up, we encourage and strongly suggest you do online registration. All attendees, even walkups, must be registered per American Cancer Society guidelines.
