As guest preacher at Altadena Community Church, 943 E. Altadena Dr., the Rev. Wendy Tajima will lead "A Midsummer's Week of Psalms."
Worship begins at 10 a.m. and will be filled with the Psalms, the prayers and hymns of the Jewish tradition so well-known and beloved in the Jewish and Christian faiths.
At 11:45 a.m. on July 10, an adult class follows, about the Psalms' background and forms as they speak to us today. The services and class may be attended separately. Childcare is provided.
Growing up in Pasadena, Tajima was immersed in the community of Japanese-American churches. Educated at Stanford, UCLA, and San Francisco Theological Seminary, she is an ordained Presbyterian minister who has led retreats in spirituality and served as a worship leader in a variety of settings. Under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Joe McGowan, Altadena Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ, which affirms that "God is still speaking" to and through people of faith.
