Next Saturday, the Altadena-to-Santa Monica beach bus will be out of service due to the planned closure of the 405 freeway that weekend (aka "Carmageddon.") Bus service will resume the following Tues., July 19
According to a release from the county Dept. of Public Works, Altadena residents who desire to go to the Santa Monica State Beach may ride the La Crescenta/La Cañada Flintridge Beach Bus departing from Foothill Bl/La Cañanda Bl (northwest corner) at 9:15 am, Two Strike Park (on Rosemont Av) at 9:30 am, County Library (on La Crescenta Bl) at 9:40 am, and Montrose Av/Ocean View Bl (southeast corner) at 9:50 am. The bus is scheduled to arrive to Santa Monica State Beach by 10:50 am, pending any traffic delays.
Fares are $3 roundtrip for children and adults. For senior citizens (age 60 and older) and people with disabilities, the fare is $1.50 roundtrip. Since limited seating is available, Altadena residents planning to ride the La Crescenta/La Cañada Flintridge Beach Bus must call (626) 458-3909 between Monday, July 11, and Thursday, July 14, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
