Always glad to hear from the oh-so-missed Danny's Farm, perhaps the greatest victim of the county's Altadena code-bombing spree. Danny's Farm -- which provides a petting zoo for all children, programs for children with autism, and employment for special needs young people and adults -- recently received over $100,000 from a fundraiser hosted by 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, and they're putting it to good use.
Cathy Gott, whose son Danny gave the farm its name, emails us that they've recently purchased a truck to help cart the animals to various events. Soon on its heels will be a trailer attachment that, Cathy says, "is going to look like a giant barn & it's going to be DARLING! I can hardly wait!"
Danny's Farm continues to operate its Specialty Autism Program (after school and summer program) at the Almansor Center in South Pasadena, and is working closely with Cal Poly Pomona to see about basing their petting farm operations from there.
The mobile farm and animals will be at the Villa Esperanza 50th Anniversary block party this Saturday.
