Yes, it's Mayor Antonovich: Looking through the comments and email in recent days, sounds like a reminder is due: Several stories and comments refer to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich as "Mayor Antonovich." (People are sending us messages which more or less say 'He's a SUPERVISOR, not a MAYOR -- now bask in my anal-retentive superiority.") The chair of the Board of Supervisors -- a position that rotates every year -- is also considered the Mayor of the unincorporated areas and towns of Los Angeles County. Some of the supervisors don't call themselves Mayor when it's their turn to chair, but Antonovich does. Hence, "Mayor Antonovich" is a proper usage, at least until the chairmanship rotates to the next supervisor.

Roger Kimball in Pajamas Media castigates the New York Times Book Review (easy enough to do): they won't review any political books to the right of Pete Seeger, but they'll devote space to graphic novels about a man's tawdry sex life. We only mention this because Kimball's taking on their newest reviewer, Altadenablog fan Annie Sprinkle! (And he's right about it, too -- sorry, Annie!)
