The Altadena Community Church, 943 E. Altadena Dr., re-installed its keynote stained glass window, "The Light of the World," on Wednesday. The window, which had been deteriorating from age and exposure, was removed after Easter because lead solder that held the individual glass panels together was falling off the window and into the street, said church member Chris Meadows. A new, non-rotting circular aluminum frame was set around the glass, which was taken for cleaning and restoration to Judson Studios, which created the window in 1947.
Workers put the final seal on the outside of the window Wednesday afternoon. The restoration of the "Light of the World" and other windows is part of a $350,000 refurbishment of the church, which includes repairing the roof and restoring the organ.
