After over a year of work and about $1.2 million dollars spent, Altadena's Sheriff Station was officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday afternoon.
The ceremonies, presided over by station Capt. Steven McLean, featured short remarks from local officials followed by public tours of the renewed station. (But you saw it first here.)

Sheriff Lt. Angela Shepherd -- who is also a professional singer -- sang the national anthem.
Rev. Barry Faison of the sheriff's Clergy Council delivered the invocation.
Members of the Altadena Town Council went up during remarks by council chair Dr. Sandra Thomas. From left, Greg Middleton, Tecumseh Shackelford, Ken Roberts, Thomas (at the podium), Okorie Ezieme, Allan Wasserman, Jamie Bissner, Diane Marcussen, and Gino Sund.
Supervisor and county mayor Michael D. Antonovich also addressed the crowd.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca gave some of the history of the how the station came to be remodeled.
The occasion was also used to celebrate the 60th birthday of the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team. Here, Antonovich, Sheriff Baca, and Capt. McLean give a proclamation from the county supervisors to honor the rescue team.
