The Pasadena Unified School District may soon face a civil rights lawsuit stemming from a Sept. 28 clash between a student and the football coach at John Muir High School. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are still considering criminal charges against the coach.
An attorney for two students involved in the scuffle with coach Ken Howard sent a letter to Pasadena Unified Supt. Jon Gundry this week threatening to file a civil rights lawsuit on Nov. 3 unless district officials agree to mediation. Pasadena attorney Brian Claypool is seeking undisclosed sums for two teens and is calling on the district to revise student search and security policies.
