At Tuesday night's town council meeting, Gene Stevenson was chosen to fill the vacant council seat in CT 4603.01.
Stevenson has a full career of achievements and community activism. He has been an executive in county and private nonprofit health care organizations in California and Florida, is a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army in active and reserve military service, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, where he received leadership training in the Officer Candidate School and at the Army Medical Department's Academy of Health Sciences.
Stevenson ran unsuccessfully last year for a seat on the Pasadena Unified School Board.
A native of Sherveport, LA, Stevenson received degreees from Los Angeles City College and California State University. He also has master's degrees in business and social work.
An Altadena resident for over 40 years, Stevenson is co-founder of the Altadena Arts Council with his wife Mary Ann.
Stevenson replaces Alice Wessen, who resigned several months ago. The seat will be up for election in 2012.
