by the Quality of Life Center
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Quality of Life Center, Inc.’s Bright Future Scholars will be mentored by none other than Altadena’s Mayor Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich himself, along with the President/Superintendent, Dr. Mark W. Rocha, Pasadena City College, and Superintendent Jon Gundry, Pasadena Unified School District, three of our top civic and community leaders.
The Bright Future Scholars participate in leadership workshops as part of their mandatory monthly meetings.
What an excellent opportunity to learn about leadership from those who practice daily in their appointed or elected positions.
The Bright Future Scholars are a combination of all qualifying Pasadena Unified School District’s brightest, most outstanding academic achievers. The program also extends itself to targeted low income, high achieving students completing high school; many against insurmountable odds, but nonetheless continue their quest for success.
The program components include: mentoring, tutoring, financial and other literacy programs, housing and health fairs, science and math initiative programs, peer and self-esteem building programs, polishing employment skills through personal adjustments and marketability skills training, as well as offering youth scholarship opportunities.
