The Institute of Domestic Technology goes off-campus this Sat., Nov. 19, with "Foodcrafting 101" at the Atwater Crossing Arts Complex near Los Feliz:
This full-day, hands-on workshop will prepare you to start making your own artisinal bread, pickles, jam and mustards from scratch. Your d.i.y. ambassadors/instructors will be some of the city’s finest food crafters. The workshop includes four, 1-hour foodcrafting sessions a catered lunch and continental breakfast. Each participant will be sent home with a sample of bread made in class, a jar of fruit preserves, a container of mustard, a jar of chipotle pickled carrots and a custom instruction manual with recipes and resource guide.
The Institute will be back at the Zane Grey Estate on Sat., Dec. 3, for a course in "cocktail crafting" with Joshua McIver, the director of "mixology" at Palate Food and Wine. Followed by cocktails, of course. 6-8 PM.
