If you don't want to venture into the craziness down the hill, some Altadena businesses are preparing to ring in 2012 in a festive way Saturday night.
The Coffee Gallery, 2029 N. Lake, will have a private potluck party -- doors open at 7 PM, when entertainment starts at the Backstage and there will be a DJ in the front. They'll also be raising funds for tribute to the rulers their entertainment license.
At the Altadena Ale & Wine House, 2329 N. Fair Oaks Ave., the party will start at 2:30 PM, and the coming of the New Year will be celebrated every hour (France at 3 PM, British New Year at 4 PM, etc.) There will be toasts every hour, and they'll be raffling off bottles of wine as well. Food will be served, and the party goes on until 1 AM New Year's Day.
