Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) met with local officials Tuesday as they pressed for a federal emergency declaration for areas ravaged by the windstorm on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The winds hit Pasadena particularly hard, causing millions of dollars in damage at a time when cities are struggling to keep red ink off their budgets.
The 80-mph overnight gusts knocked down trees and power lines, sparked fires and caused a power outage affecting more than 440,000 homes and businesses. Some customers lost power for more than a week.
“It's hard to comprehend where $15 million-plus is going to come from under our current economic circumstances,” Pasadena City Manager Michael Beck said before he and others met with Schiff.
