Two John Muir High School students involved in a Sept. 28 scuffle with football coach Ken Howard are facing juvenile court charges for their roles in the incident.
Howard was charged by city prosecutors with misdemeanor assault in November and is awaiting arraignment.
Pasadena attorney Brian Claypool, who represents the teens and has threatened a civil rights lawsuit against the school district, denounced the charges against the boys.
“These kids are pawns in a politically-motivated chess match. The criminal charges are being used to insulate [Pasadena Unified School District] against civil liability,” said Claypool.
