from Altadena Relay for Life
Volunteer organizers in Altadena for the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life have planning in full swing for the Fourth Annual Altadena Relay for Life June 9-10 to take place at Farnsworth Park. Additional volunteers and participants to walk on teams are invited.
A kickoff at Farnsworth Park on January 18 featured passionate testimonies of hope, from those who have battled cancer and survived, and those have been in the role of caretakers. "There is no way that cancer doesn't touch us all," organizer Rose West
The 2012 goal for the Altadena Relay for Life is to have 40 teams of walkers who will raise $ 40,000. In 2011, there were 35 teams that raised just under $ 35,000.
The next meeting will take place at the Altadena Community Center on February 1. The next planning session will begin at 6:30 for those who would like to be team captains or participate on a walking team. Committee members will then gather or planning at 7:30.
