Soroptimist International of Altadena/Pasadena held its 16th annual Silent Auction at the Frostig School in Pasadena in December. The auction, which represents the club’s largest fundraiser of the year, raised money to assist women and girls in local communities and globally. During the auction, attendees bid on a wide variety of treasures, including themed gift baskets, dinners at popular local restaurants, chic fashion jewelry, and original artwork.
“Lots of effort by each and every member produced an event that exceeded our expectations for the funds that mean so much to us and our community,” remarked Pat O’Fallon, Silent Auction committee chairperson. Soroptimist members put in tireless hours to make this event a success – ranging from creating bid sheets and imaginative gift baskets to soliciting local businesses for donations and cooking delectable hor d’eurves for the event.
The auction raised about $5,000 to benefit the Door of Hope, The Women’s Room, Rosemary Children’s’ Services, and the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards, Ruby Awards and Violet Richardson Awards.
