Sheriff's deputies caught the suspect in six area burglaries by tracking him with his own GPS ankle bracelet, says Altadena's captain.
Capt. Steven McLean said that Jeremiah Billingslea, 20 who was arrested Jan. 20 allegedly in the act of burglarizing a home, had been tracked through the court-ordered ankle bracelet he was wearing at the time.
The sheriff's station said Billingslea was already on parole for burglary and, as a condition of his release, was required to wear a tracking ankle bracelet. When the Altadena station suspected Billingslea in a recent wave of burglaries that followed his M.O., McLean said that they tracked him through the global positioning system in the ankle bracelet that broadcasts his location and movements. Deputies easily found him in the house on the 300 block of East Calavaras St., still wearing the anklet, McLean said.
Billingslea was charged with six burglaries committed in the area in recent weeks.
