"A Horse in a Hole."
from gloriana casey
COWBOY, he is a "Wonder Horse"
in picture of despair.
Though in the photo shown of him
the hole's not round---but square!
Now manhole covers are cast iron,
not squared--but circular.
For those square corners, they can crash,
while roundness does demur.
Or possibly a rectangle
and metal cover then?
But how much weight did COWBOY have
to crash the structure in?
Now COWBOY stands at 15 hands,
4 inches make a hand.
So 60 inches at shoulder,
or---- 5 foot man will stand..
The BIGGEST horse, a Belgian was
weighed in at hefty pounds.
3500 weight
it was---- and he could shake the ground.
The average mid-sized car weighs in
around that horsey weight..
4500 average pounds
Though horse fell first to FATE!
Around 250 pounds
those cast iron covers weigh.
How could it shatter? We must ask
and Wonder horse does NEIGH!
Now if those edges, they were squared
and not in safety round.
No wonder COWBOY, he fell in,
and deeply he fell down!
A horse fell first, though lucky us
it could have been a car!
Or even -----big old pickup truck,
this danger---near and far.
So was this manhole cover, round,
rectangular or square?
For safety's found in roundness then,
squared ends can tip in air!
COWBOY- a horse, a horse, of course.
he's leading now the way
for safety checks on covers now:
hope no one falls today!
