The latest: the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning in effect until 3 PM Saturday for the mountains in Los Angeles County.
NWS predicts winds from the north to northeast at 25-40 MPH wil gusts to 65 MPH expected, and isolated gusts around 80 MPH at the highest mountain peaks.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occuring, with sustained speeds of at least 40 MPH.
NWS has also issued a red flag warning, meaning the dry winds will increase the chance of fire danger.
