Contractors working for Southern California Edison are trimming trees in the Altadena area, say an Edison spokeperson, who gives some tips for identifying if they are legit or not.
Vanessa McGrady of Edison says that several subcontractors are currently working in the area trimming trees as part of the post-windstorm cleanup. McGrady said that Edison contractors will have an ID from their own company as well as a letter from Edison explaining what they are doing. There is also a number on the letter for the customer to call to confirm the work with Edison.
McGrady said that the contractors are traveling in clearly-marked trucks with "approved by Edison" contractor signs attached to them.
Asplundh is a major contractor, but there are other firms involved in the tree trimming, McGrady says.
