Pasadena City College President Mark Rocha will take part in a community meet-and-greet on Thursday in hope of encouraging more local students to enroll at the college.
The event includes a question-and-answer session and takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Villa Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St., Pasadena.
Because roughly two-thirds of PCC students live outside the school’s immediate surroundings, Rocha is trying to spread the word that local students get priority registration for classes.
“There is a lot of bad news out there about education budget cuts, so we want to reach out to our community and let them know that they should not be scared away,” said Rocha. “We cannot give everyone what they want exactly when they want it, but we still can give anyone something of what they need to get started toward their goal.”
