Lt. John S. Benedict, an assistant to Sheriff Chief Neal Tyler, has been named Altadena's new sheriff captain, according to sources close to the sheriff station.
The selection of Benedict was confirmed by Lt. Duane D. Allen, Altadena Station's public information officer, and Robert Klomburg, president of the Sheriff's Support Group.
Before moving to headquarters in 2011, Benedict was a watch commander, detective lieutenant and liaison for Westlake Village and Hidden Hills according to The Acorn.
Benedict will replace Capt. Steven McLean, who retires this month.
An official announcement has not yet been made. More on this as it develops.
