From public safety volunteer Carolyn Seitz, who relays a story from the McNally neighborhood:
I just had a strange experience -- a guy came to our front door, knocked in a way that a familiar friend would, and wanted to come in. He claimed to have just been released from the hospital and to be friends with the [name withheld] on McNally. He lifted his shirt and exposed his stomach which had some white circle thing stuck to it. I felt weird about the whole situation and told him if he were friends with the [name withheld] to go to them. I said I was going to call the police and he got spooked. I did call the sheriff and told them. They said some other person is doing this kind of scam on the east side of town too. BE VERY CAREFUL!!
Sounds like it might be one of those stick-on electrode things that they use for EKGs -- we've never heard it being used for a scam, though. As always, if you see anything suspicious, call the Altadena Sheriff's Station at 798-1131.
