from Odyssey Charter School
Daryl Bilandzija, Odyssey Charter School’s middle school language arts and history teacher, was recently nominated to GOOD Magazine’s “Great American Teach-off for America’s Most Innovative Teacher.”
Bilandzija has been teaching Language Arts for ten years in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He became part of our Odyssey Community three years ago and has taken the Middle School to new heights. Since his arrival students have expanded the edible learning gardens, planted fruit orchards, performed Shakespeare plays for the school community, and improved state test scores. Mr. Bilandzija has inspired his students to not only go above and beyond in their academics, but to reach outside themselves to improve their communities and the world. He is honored and grateful for the acknowledgement of GOOD Magazine’s competition and hopes to win the needed funds for our school.
What can you do to help him become America’s Most Innovative Teacher? From March 5 through April 9, GOOD Magazine will upload a new video every Monday at 9AM (PST) from the finalists. Final voting closes at 11:59PM (EST) on April 9. Simply go to GOOD Magazine’s website http://www.good.is and click on “The Great American Teach Off” on the right side of the webpage. You can vote up to once a day during each voting period. The two teachers with the fewest votes each week will be eliminated, until we have one last teacher standing!
