There have been a lot of dog stories in the news lately -- this is another one. And this pooch wasn't put in a car carrier on top of a vehicle by a former governor, nor was he eaten by the President.
But "Truman" was having trouble around Switzer Falls on Sunday. The owner of the four-year-old Golden Retriever was severely dehydrated and cut his paws while on a hike with his owner, who called for a rescue about 6:30 PM.
According to a press release from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station activated the Montrose Search and Rescue team, which hiked deep into the Angeles National Forest and transported Truman by gurney to safety. Truman's vet says he is recovering.
Which is a way of reminding everybody that human hikers need to wear appropriate shoes, and, says the press release, "consider the hazards to dogs paws on hot days and rough terrain, especially if your dog spends a lot of time inside."
