Another "too much to do Saturday" in Altadena. What's on today's calendar:
- Eliot Middle School E-Waste roundup, 9 AM-3 PM at the school, 2184 N. Lake Ave.
- Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy Rubio Cañon Trail Hike, 9 AM, meet at 1101 E. Loma Alta Drive.
- Intermediate Victory Garden Classes start, 9:30-12 PM at the Altadena Community Garden at Loma Alta Park, 3300 N. Lincoln Ave.
- Art on Palm spring show, 10 AM-6 PM, 1419 E. Palm St. (in WildWood Park)
- St. Elizabeth Parish Fiesta, noon-10 PM, 1879 N. Lake Ave.
It's also the "National Drug Take-Back Initiative" today, where the Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement encourage you to turn in your expired or unwanted prescription drugs. (It not only gets them out of circulation, but locally they are disposed of safely by burning and don't get into the ground or water table). Locally, you can turn in your unwanted drugs (prescription or otherwise) at a drop-off box at the Altadena Sheriff Station 24/7.
UPDATE: Nixle has put out a warning if you're planning to drive near the Rose Bowl today:
