Academy Award-nominated writer/director John Singleton will be the keynote speaker at the annual fundraising dinner for Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development (MPYD) on May 12 at Brookside Golf Course.
Singleton, director of "2 Fast 2 Furious," "Higher Learning," "Boyz n the Hood" and other films, will be part of the late luncheon that raises money for MPYD's programs benefitting high school youth, now commemorating its tenth year.
Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich will be honorary chair of the event, which also honors restaurateur Robin Salzer (Cardinal Paint Award), Robert Farias (Community Partner Award), Manuel Almanza (Angel Award), Muir High School principal Sheryl Orange (Academics for Success Award) and the Real Men Mentoring Group (volunteer award).
